Hon. Bahinduka launches writing competition and Unveiling Uganda Uncovered Magazine
Hon. Bahinduka Mugarra Martin,  the State Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities
has officially unveiled the Uganda Uncovered Magazine and launched the Travel Writing Competitions 2024. 
The has happened today 28th, June 2024 at Sheraton Tourism Information Center, were several tourism stakeholders have convened to witness the launch of competition.
This year’s competition is themed; “Harnessing Uganda’s Tourism through Conservation.”
I am glad to be here for the launch of the fourth edition of the travel Writing Competition. I have known Uganda Uncovered for two years or so and I have witnessed this journey of growth, and Hon Bahinduka expressed.
The minister appreciated the club for an initiative geared towards filling the information gap in a sector which is fast growing, the competition creates the much-needed platform for marketing various tourist attractions around Uganda through written content.
This years competition will be judged by three judged Ms Dorothy Basemerera a communication officer of Ngamba Island sanctuary, Edger Baate and Gerald Tenywa.
Among other people present was the Ms Rebeeca Nakagiro represented UPPC, who also revealed the cooperation is to build a publication museum at their headquarters at Entebbe to showcase the history and trail of publications and printing in Uganda. This will be the first museum of it’s kind in East African region.
The Travel Writing Competitions where started by Uganda Uncovered initiative in 2021, and currently the competitions have received about 500 travel article submission.
According to Irene Allen Namisango, the Team Leader Uganda Uncovered “the aim of the competitions is covering the gap about Uganda Tourism.”
Because almost 70℅ of Uganda’s tourism is wildlife and nature based. We need to create more awareness about this, Irene added.
Other partners present included Itel smartphone company which gifted 3 phone to the previous winners of the writing competitions of 2023. And also Stabex, Sumz snacks, Ngamba, UTB, UWEC among others.
